Newsletter for Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Dear Parents,

As May draws to a close, we reflect on its association with Mary. During this special month, in which we celebrated Christ's Ascension into Heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we are reminded to always keep Mary in our hearts. As we carry on through the year, we should continue to develop a deep personal relationship with Mary – one of love, affection, devotion and trust, so that she always has an important place in our lives. Let's all try to take some practical steps such as praying the Rosary or maybe saying a special prayer like the Memorare throughout the year, not just during May, to deepen our devotion to Mary. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen of Peace, so as we pray, we offer our prayers for peace in our city and throughout the world.

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Congratulations to all our candidates for running a very successful and effective campaign for the 2016-17 Student Council. All the candidates provided festive and informative campaign materials and each gave rousing campaign speeches to excite the 4th through 8th grade voters! Again this year, the ballots were collected and tabulated electronically. The results demonstrated that every candidate had the support of many voters and the races were fairly fought and fairly won! The following students will hold Student Council Officer positions for the 2016-17 school year:

President: Cristian Torres
Vice President: Angelo Custodio
Secretaries: Caylie Cristobal and Ciarra Cruz

Newsletter for Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

This past weekend, the church celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church and the gift of the Holy Spirit – the sending of the Holy Spirit by our Jesus. Having been with his disciples for forty days after the resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. Pentecost closes the Easter Season. It celebrates the overwhelming experience of God giving the Holy Spirit to the first community of believers in the church. The color of the vestments and decorations for Pentecost is red, which symbolizes the intense love and fire of the Holy Spirit. From now until the beginning of the Advent Season we will celebrate the church season known as Ordinary Time. We now see the return of the green vestments that are a symbol of life and growth in the church.

The Mother-Son Dinner Dance was a wonderful success! Thank you to Hydee Mutuc (mom of Lorenzo, 7 and Dominic, K) and all her helpers for all their hard work in making this a fun and memorable event for all mothers and their sons.

It is also disruptive to the the rest of the class when a student needs to leave early or when parents drop in without giving prior notice to the teacher. Remember students picked up before dismissal will be marked half day absent on our legal attendance records.

Tuition and Fees: Do you have any unpaid tuition or fees (including the scrip requirement and extended care) for this school year? Please make sure you settle up before the 10:00am dismissal on June 9, in order that your child/children may receive their report cards in a timely manner. Report cards for students absent on the last day will be filed in their cumulative folders and may be picked up during the summer or next school year.

And finally, we invite everyone to join us tomorrow at 1:30pm in Carroll Hall for a Musical Tribute. Ms. McKenna, our music teacher, had been preparing all classes to perform a variety of songs in this showcase. We hope to see you there!
