View this email in your browser Dear Parents: This past Saturday, the 2nd grade class was part of a beautiful ceremony marking their First Holy Communion. Congratulations to the following First Communicants: Elizabeth Alvarado, Sage Bernardo, James Bonomi, Paige Bustos, Paolo Bustos, Emma Cacao, Cyrhen Cuadra, Emily Daniels, Mateo DelosSantos, Brayden Dizon, Rafael Flores, Benedict Gazave, Jordan Hanna Go, Kaden Madrid, Madison Murillo, Collin Noguera, Sara Noguera, Dominic Patton, Chiara Perez, Isabelle Pualengco, Darius Radoc Factoran, Elijah Reyes, Daniela Ruiz, Abigail Marie Sablad, Sofia Samatra, Sage Urcuyo, and Mathias Vega. A big thank you to their teacher, Kathleen Wilkinson for preparing such a prayerful and respectful celebration. All 2nd grade students will get to wear their beautiful first communion outfits again when we celebrate the May crowning this Sunday at the 10am mass. Ordination of Deacons Congratulations also to Abbie Nepomuceno, who is being Ordained as a Permanent Deacon this Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Abbie, along with his wife Josephine, have been active members of the St. Thomas More Community for over 30 years. His daughters, Catherine ('03), Julie Ann ('07) and Abigail ('11) all graduated from St. Thomas More School. His ordination will be celebrated this Sunday at the 10am mass with hospitality to follow. We also congratulate the twelve others who are receiving this special sacrament of Holy Orders this weekend. SPIRIT WEEK The Student Council reminds everyone that Spirit Week begins next Monday, May 22 with Color Day and Field Day/Conge! Below are the colors each class should wear. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR MEETING We are looking to create a team to run our school Scholastic Book Fairs, which are twice a year (September and January). If you would like to be on the team, please attend an informational meeting tonight, Wednesday, May 17 at 5:15pm (Note new time!) in the school library. If you have questions, please contact Judy Silva, at jsilva@stmsf.org. Happy Reading! TDAP Parents of current 6th grade students need to submit evidence that their child has received their Tdap shot before August 16 Calendar Items HOOP-A-THON When: Friday, May 19 Time: 10:45am Where: STM Gym SPORTS AWARDS When: Friday, May 19 Time: 12:30pm Where: STM Gym COACHES DINNER When: Saturday, May 20 Time: 5:30pm Where: Carroll Hall EXTENDED CARE - PIZZA LUNCH There will be a pizza lunch offered at Extended Care on Monday, May 22. One slice, cheese or pepperoni, with a drink is $4 and an extra slice is $2 more. Billing will be through FACTS. HOOP-A-THON The Athletic Board will conduct their annual Hoop-a-thon for Kinder through 8th graders this Friday, May 19 beginning at 10:45am in the gym. Sign-up forms  were sent home last week. Encourage your child to participate in this fun event! We'd love to see you there to cheer on your children! PARKING AND TRAFFIC At this time, we need to remind everyone of a few guidelines. Firstly, please follow the directions of the students on traffic patrol. Secondly, please avoid U-turns if at all possible. We ask you to drive around the church instead. Thirdly, please don't drive down into the golf course unless it's absolutely necessary. Never park on, nor drive across, their grass. And lastly, please be respectful and courteous to our neighbors at the Golf Club, St. Thomas More Church and Alma Via. We all need to share the valuable and limited parking spaces.
