View this email in your browser 2021-2022 NEW SCHOOL YEAR INFORMATION April 29, 2021 Dear STM Families,  The first day of school for the 2021-2022 school year will be Wednesday, August 25, 2021. We plan to have all students return to full-time, five days per week, in-person instruction in full school uniform.  2021-2022 SCHOOL CALENDAR Here is the 2021-2022 school calendar. While it has not yet been formally approved by the Department of Catholic Schools we do not anticipate any significant changes. First Day of School: Wednesday, August 25, 2021 Last Day of School: Friday, June 10, 2022 LINK: 2021-2022 School Calendar Daily Schedule Morning Drop-off will continue to be staggered 8:00-8:15am: Grades 4-8 8:15-8:30am: Grades TK-3 Dismissal will return to previous schedule       Monday-Thursday                                  Friday       2:45pm: TK-3                                           2:15pm: TK-3       3:00pm: Grades 4-8                                 2:30pm: Grade 4-8 Extended Care Program Morning Care will be offered beginning at 7:00am  Afternoon Extended Care will resume from dismissal to 6:00pm Choice Lunch available Health and Safety Protocol While we have been successful in ensuring that no COVID-19 cases were spread throughout the school, we need to remain vigilant well into the future and continue to follow the safety protocols we currently have in place.  Mask required Continue to follow SFDPH health and safety guideline for schools Students who show symptoms, are ill, in close contact or quarantined: Follow Daily COVID-19 Symptom and Exposure Check Guidelines Teachers will provide classwork and homework but NO distance learning instruction Along with my fellow Catholic school principals, we continue to meet weekly, and work closely, with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to follow and implement any updated guidelines provided.  If we have learned anything from this past year, it is that we always need to be ready to change and adapt with very short notice.    Marie Fitzpatrick Principal Copyright © 2021 St. Thomas More School, All rights reserved. View this email in your browser April 28, 2021 Dear STM Families, Our second and third graders are glowing after receiving their First Holy Communion last Saturday. The weather cooperated for this special occasion and our students looked angelic and so excited for their special day. This Friday, Fr. Marvin will be administering the sacrament of Confirmation to over 60 of our 7th and 8th grade students. Confirmation is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ that confers the gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord) upon the recipient. Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit gives candidates the increased ability to practice their Catholic faith in every aspect of their lives and to witness Christ in every situation. Candidates are now speaking up for themselves and making a promise to build  a closer bond with the Catholic Church. This will be an indoor ceremony with screening of all students, sponsors and family members. Seating is limited to those who are signed up to attend in order to comply with social distancing guidelines still in place. This will be the last opportunity to return for in-person learning this school year. View this email in your browser April 21, 2021 Dear STM Families,  Jesus says "I am the bread of life. Whoever believes in me will never thirst. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry." The Eucharist feeds our hunger for love.  Jesus Christ sacrificed himself so that we may be filled with life and have joy to the fullest. He loves us unconditionally. The joy and excitement of our second and third grade students as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion this coming Saturday can be felt throughout the school. Please keep them in your prayers as they move forward with this important step in their faith journey.  TRAVELING TEAMS HEALTH ALERT The following information was shared today regarding Traveling Teams by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. This information is especially relevant to 8th grade students who risk not being able to participate in graduation activities.  Traveling out of California for sports competitions is explicitly prohibited in both California State guidance and San Francisco Health Directives. These types of inter-state sports meets have been responsible for multiple large outbreaks of COVID-19. CDPH Guidance and SFDPH Health Directive (page 5, section 2.1): "Teams must not participate in out-of-state games and tournaments; several multistate outbreaks have been reported around the nation, including California residents." Any students who violate this must follow California's Travel Advisory and quarantine for 10 days upon return, a period which may be shortened to 7 days with a negative test. CHEF IT UP offers students a virtual "hands-on" cooking and learning experience all done in the safety of your home. Our qualified team will create an hour long, fun-filled, cooking class for students of all ages to enjoy. The use of easy-to-follow recipes, safe tools and gadgets, and all "PEANUT & TREE NUT FREE" ingredients can make cooking fun for everyone! Students will prepare, enjoy and share delicious creations with each class.  Students will receive the list of ingredients needed a week prior to the start of each class. Ingredients will be kept "basic" and can be purchased at any local grocery store. A basic kit of kitchen tools will be provided to each student and delivered to the St. Thomas More Office for pickup.
