View this email in your browser April 27, 2022 Dear Families, Now that we have returned from Easter vacation the remaining six weeks of the school year will fly by. It will be an action packed time with a full calendar for May and our Spring Festival scheduled for Saturday May 14. I know that you will join me in offering him a warm welcome to the STM community. LINK: STM New Principal Announcement STRATEGIC PLANNING 2022-2023 Guided by our mission to foster spiritual, intellectual and social growth in a diverse community of students, St. Thomas More School is launching a Strategic Planning Project this Spring, 2022. Strategic Planning is a disciplined and focused process of research, discovery, dialogue and decision making about the future of an organization.  In light of my retirement, I'm starting Phase I of the planning process now so that we can use the rest of this school year to gather the historical information and insights needed to enable Mr. Greenbaum to quickly step into Phase II of the process next year with a strong supportive Strategic Planning Sub Committee in place.  We've hired an external consultant who will help guide our community through the process. We need your help to make this initiative successful! I will be inviting the members of our Parents' Club, Advisory Board and Athletic Board to our initial retreat in May but know that many others have much to contribute to the success and growth of our school. In most cases, the whole class will receive a group tracing COVID-19 exposure email notification if there is a positive case reported. For more information, please refer to the CDPH guidance. -------------------- Return-From-Break Testing with At-Home Rapid Antigen Tests: COVID-19 at-home rapid antigen tests were distributed to all STM students on 4/26/22.  CDPH is building upon existing efforts to keep schools safe by increasing access to no-cost, at-home COVID-19 antigen tests. View this email in your browser April 13, 2022   Dear Parents, Holy Week is considered the most sacred week in the liturgical year. As we move through this week we are reminded that Jesus died for our sins on Good Friday and rose from the dead just three days later, on Easter Sunday. This video, Understanding Holy Week, gives a brief outline of the major events of this week.  Below are the updates for this week:  Calendar Covid Tests Read-a-thon First Communion Stations of the Cross Re-registration Financial Aid Application Parent Participation Requirements And Tuition Agreement Forms Easter Egg Hunt Spring Festival Yearbook Nova Ukraine COVID Notifications CALENDAR Thursday, April 14 Minimum Day 12:15/12:20 dismissal Friday, April 15-Friday, April 22 Easter Holiday Saturday, April 16 Easter Egg Hunt 9 am - 1 pm Monday, April 25 Classes resume Minimum Day 12:15/12:30 dismissal Return-From-Break Testing with At-Home Rapid Antigen Tests: CDPH is building upon existing efforts to keep schools safe as the school community returns from break by increasing access to no-cost, at-home COVID-19 antigen tests. More information for families, such as fliers to encourage reporting and instructions in multiple languages, can be found in this Google Drive.  There is NO state-wide testing requirement for returning to school we encourage you to use the testing kits to help us all return safely to school following Easter break.  Private school students will receive an allocation of ONE Rapid Home Test kit that includes 5 individual test kits. We are picking up these kits tomorrow, 4/14/2022 and will distribute one kit per student. Please check your child's backpack for the kit.  At minimum, students should test the day before or the morning of returning to school. Ideally, they should test 1 day prior/day of returning to school (April 24) AND 2-3 days after returning to school, April 26. For example if your school returns from break on a Monday, testing should be done on Sunday and Tuesday of that week. READ-A-THON Thank you, STM families and friends, for supporting the 2021-2022 Read-a-thon! This year our students raised a total of $13,880 that will go towards updating our library and media center with books, tech, furniture and comfy seating for all of our students to enjoy.  Top Fundraisers ★ Students who collected the most money per class received a free dress.   Top Readers ★ Students with the most pages read in each class received a certificate of achievement. Highest Fundraising Class ★ Fourth grade raised the most money (based on the average per child) and earned a free dress and movie party!        FIRST COMMUNION Congratulations to our students who received their First Holy Communion at St.Thomas More Church on Saturday, April 9, 2022. ​​We invite all members of the STM community to pray that our First Communicants will continue to grow in love for Jesus as they regularly receive Him in the Eucharist.   STATIONS OF THE CROSS Our 1st and 3rd grade students presented a beautiful and reverent edition of the Stations of the Cross to their classmates and parents earlier this week.  Thank you, Princess Costello, for recording and sharing the Stations of the Cross video with us.  Stations of the Cross Video Stations of the Cross Photos 2022-2023 STM RE-REGISTRATION DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 2022 Re-registration fee is due no later than 4/15/22 to ensure a spot is held in the classroom for your child for the '22-'23 school year. FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 15, 2022 The deadline to apply for the CARL and CELIA GELLERT FOUNDATION FUND and STM Financial Aid is approaching.  This will be the only opportunity to request financial aid for the 2022-2023 school year so please avail of this service now.
