Dear Friends,

This October, the San Francisco Archdiocese will hold their annual Rosary Rally in Downtown San Francisco. The tradition of the rally started nine years ago to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the rosary rally held in San Francisco back in 1961, led by Fr. Patrick Peyton. An estimated 500,000 people gathered in prayer that day. This year, the event begins with Mass in St. Mary's Cathedral on October 5th at 10.00am. Following the Mass, there will be a procession to UN Plaza. The rally will end with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction at UN Plaza. Click here for more information.

This year we have implemented trimester grading periods. This change gives teachers a longer window of time to collect and analyze data, monitor growth, and allow for re-teaching and enrichment prior to formal grade reporting. Report cards will be distributed approximately one week after the trimester ends.

The following dates mark the end of each trimester for the 2019-2020 school year:
  • First Trimester, November 15, 2019
  • Second Trimester, February 28, 2020
  • Third Trimester, June 5, 2020
As a result of this new schedule, parent conferences occur in the middle of the first trimester, September 30-October 4. STAR testing scores will be shared with you at this time, however, report cards will not be distributed. Fourth and fifth grade students will receive printed copies of their progress reports during conferences. You will have an opportunity to discuss your child's progress with the teacher, and students will have the opportunity to make any needed improvements over the next six weeks before grades are finalized.
This year we are opening the PowerSchool Parent Portal in 6-8 grades. Parent login information is included in today's Wednesday envelope.

Sincerely,
Marie Fitzpatrick
Principal
