View this email in your browser May 26, 2021 Hello STM Families:  Our Mission Statement in part says that at St. Thomas More School we  "advocate academic excellence and inspire spiritual, intellectual and social growth. We prepare our diverse community of students to become citizens committed to service and stewardship".  We can truly say that this mission has been carried out to its fullest in our 8th grade students who will be graduating this Friday, May 28th. This is indeed an exciting milestone for these 37 young ladies and gentlemen and for their families. While we will miss them greatly at STM, we can confidently say that they are leaving with a strong academic foundation, that they have been well grounded in their role of service to others and in their responsibilities as stewards of our earth. We wish them every success in their high school journey and beyond.  CALENDAR Friday, May 28 Grade 8 Graduation Monday, May 31 Memorial Day - School closed Tuesday, June 1 Pick Up/Drop Off Day All checkout iPads returned to school Tuesday, June 1- Friday, June 3 Minimum Day 12:15/12:30 pm dismissal Friday, June 4 Last Day of School  Distance learning for all students 10:00 am dismissal PICK UP/DROP OFF DAY Pick up/Drop off Day for distance learning students is on Tuesday, June 1.  Please return all school textbooks, materials, iPads, usb cables, chargers, etc. Your child's homeroom teacher will provide additional details. LAST DAY OF SCHOOL Friday, June 4, 2021 The last day of school is Friday, June 4. It is a distance learning day as usual. Dismissal will be at 10:00 am. Because construction begins immediately, our office will be closed for any last minute drop-offs after that date. We will still be working remotely through June and will reopen on August 2nd. Please check our website for any additional updates. 2021-2022 MORNING AND AFTERNOON  EXTENDED CARE REGISTRATION Complete the Extended Care Registration to enroll your child in Morning and/or After School Extended Care for the 2021-2022 school year. We are asking each family to register at this time so that we can plan ahead and ensure adequate staffing.  Registration Fee: $25 per family REGISTRATION DEADLINE: August 15, 2021 LATE REGISTRATION FEE: $50 (after August 15, 2021)​ For more information, email us at office@stmsf.org or visit https://www.stthomasmoreschool.org/extended-care-program.html. View this email in your browser Kindergarteners dressed up to celebrate Tacky Tourist Day May 19, 2021 Hello STM Families: I'm happy to share some exciting news about our main school building. This summer we will complete the seismic updates needed to bring the building up to the safety codes and standards of today. If you recall, we did the work on the roof two summers ago. This upcoming project focuses mainly on the  strengthening of the first and second floors. The fantastic part about this upgrade is that all the flooring in the hallways and the classrooms will be replaced. Boys and girls' restrooms will also be completely remodeled. We eagerly look forward to our new look and the excitement of the students when they see the transformation when they return in August. So say goodbye to the tiles that have served us well for the last 67 years! This is the time of year we need to say goodbye to some of our beloved teachers who are moving on from here. Mrs. White is retiring after many years as a teacher in the  Archdiocese of San Francisco, the last, and best, ten years here at STM. It has been an honor and a privilege to have Shelley as part of our school during those years and we wish her all the best for this new chapter in her life! We bid farewell to a few other great teachers, Ms. Balmy, Ms. Pas and Ms. Sancada. We appreciate their many contributions to our school and wish them every success. I look forward to introducing you to our new staff members at the beginning of next school year.  Prayer for the End of the School Year At the end of this school year we give thanks to God: For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school, both in and out of the classroom, For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced; For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed; For the respect and care that has been given. We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown. For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles, For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days And for the love that has kept us going.   We give thanks for the community that we are, and we ask you, Lord - Bless our 8th graders as they finish up their time at STM : may your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness for the journey ahead. Bless our families and staff as we take our vacations, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish. Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
