All conferences will be virtual this year. During your conference, the teacher will also share the results of the STAR baseline test taken in early September.  An email invitation will be sent to the primary email address listed on your FACTS account on Monday, Oct 4th via SignUpGenius. Sign-ups will begin next Monday at 5 pm. Sign-ups close on Friday, October 8, 2021. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher if you have any questions about conferences.  Sign Up Dates: Monday, Oct. 4 at 5 pm - Friday, Oct. 8 at 11:59 pm  Parent-Teacher Conference Dates: Tuesday, Oct. 12-Thursday, Oct. 14 NEW SCHOOL HEALTH EMAIL ADDRESS Health@stmsf.org is our new school email account that was set up to help the school office prioritize your emails regarding your child's health. Report COVID test results and questions to health@stmsf.org or call our school office at 415-337-0100. MugsyClicks will send families an email once they have your child's photo from picture day ready. Viewing and ordering will be available approximately 3 weeks after picture day.  Make Up Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, November 1, 2021.  STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS Student Council Elections were held today! Election results and our new 2021-2022 officers will be announced in next week's newsletter.  KINDERGARTEN and TK APPLICATIONS 2022-2023 We are happy to announce that many new families have accepted a placement at STM for the next school year. Applications are still being accepted until classes are full. New student applications are available online. You, our current families, are our best advertising! HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR/FALL FESTIVAL Thank you, STM families, for responding to the Parents' Club Fall/Winter Survey! Based on parent feedback, the Fall Festival has been postponed to Spring 2022! View this email in your browser September 22, 2021 Dear STM Families,    We are already four weeks into the 2021-2022 school year. The excitement and joy of having students back in class help us all feel a little more normal. So many of you have shared how much happier your children are to be back in school with their friends and teachers, to have a routine and rhythm to their day, and to be just ...kids!  The past few weeks have also brought some struggles with the delta variant that has proved to be highly contagious, especially for our younger students, who are unvaccinated. We understand the frustrations and challenges that last-minute notices of classroom closures bring and appreciate the sacrifices you are making to accommodate these changes.  We continue to follow the hygiene and sanitation guidelines put in place last school year. School and classroom doors remain open all day for cross-ventilation purposes and each classroom has a large air purifier that is constantly running. Students have designated seating in the classrooms, and we have seating charts available to share with the health department when needed in making decisions on modified or standard quarantine. Students will continue to eat all snacks and lunch in the schoolyard and a written plan is in place for days that the weather does not allow for eating and/playing outside. Both the gym and Carroll Hall will allow for adequate spacing and ventilation when needed. Continue to remain in your cars until it is time for students to be dismissed. Picking up your child and leaving immediately after is not only the safest thing to do, it also frees up parking spaces for the next group of parents. Goal: $60,000 Currently: $54,500+ Those who have earned prizes will be receiving them this Friday. For the safety of our students and staff, parents or volunteers will not be allowed in the schoolyard during the Fun Run this year.  Students may wear comfortable clothes and shoes for running Bring water bottles; we will not have a water station LINK: https://stm21.pledge-drive.net/Campaign/Details/2022?code=894E   STM ROBOTICS TEAM FLL Freight Frenzy! Our award-winning STM robotics team is looking for a few, good coaches! All parents, high school/college age siblings, and adult mentors are eligible (STM parents can earn their parent volunteer hours). An engineering or computer science background is a plus but not required. First Lego League Teams (grades 5-8) compete in the Fall, with a tournament in November. Jr First Lego League Teams (grades 1-4) compete this Winter/Spring with an exposition in early Spring. This year's challenge theme is "Freight Frenzy."
