View this email in your browser STM Newsletter for Wednesday, June 8, 2022 2022-2023 Student Council June 8, 2022 Dear Families, Congratulations to so many of our amazing students who willingly put themselves forward for Student Council elections. They prepared campaign posters, passed out pins to fellow students, and gave rousing speeches to encourage votes. After some very tightly contested seats we are proud to announce the slate of officers and assistants for the 2022-2023 school year. Some students who did not win a seat have accepted positions on appointed committees. We look forward to their leadership in the coming school year. View this email in your browser STM Newsletter for Wednesday, June 1, 2022 June 1, 2022 Dear Families, This Friday, June 3rd, we celebrate the graduation for our 8th grade students. Many of them have been with us since they began preschool in Utopia eleven years ago, a few others joined us along the way. It has been our privilege to work closely with them in their journey through elementary school. We know they are destined for great things and to serve others on their path through life. .  Congratulations class of 2022! Last week I shared with you news on teachers and staff that will be leaving. As I mentioned, we have hired teachers and staff to fill these positions. Staying at STM, but changing roles for the 2022-2023 school year is Mrs. Tyaglo, our current fifth grade teacher. She will lead our STEM and library program. Over the past month, Mrs. Tyaglo and our eighth grade volunteers have been working on reorganizing books and furniture to get the Library Media Center ready for the new school year. We would also like to welcome back Ms. Sheedy, long term 6th grade substitute, who will be our new fifth grade teacher. Additionally, rumors that Mr. K was retiring from the classroom may have been premature. Apparently, he loves teaching American history so much that he may continue to do so, with our 8th graders, for one more year! FITZPATRICK'S RETIREMENT FAMILY MASS Sunday, June 5, 2022 10 AM, St. Thomas More Church Please join with the STM School community at  this Sunday's Family Mass to celebrate Mrs. Fitzpatrick's retirement. Please also join us for refreshments and pastries provided by the Parents' Club in the gym following the mass. This will be the perfect opportunity for you and your family to take photos and chat with Mrs. Fitzpatrick. MRS. FITZPATRICK'S RETIREMENT ASSEMBLY Thank you, Mrs. Tyaglo and Ms. Verzosa, for organizing and spending many hours putting together the awesome video for my surprise retirement assembly last Friday. I will treasure it always. Thank you, preschool through eighth teachers and students, for making such beautiful cards and posters to celebrate the occasion. I am enjoying reading your messages.  I will definitely miss the wonderful students and my colleagues from St. Thomas More School.
