March 31, 2021

Dear STM Families,

Easter is the most important liturgical season for Catholics. On Easter Sunday, we celebrate Jesus' resurrection from the dead. We recall Jesus's victory over sin and death that allows for the salvation for all mankind. It is God's greatest act of love to willingly die for our sins.

Easter Sunday Prayer

Lord God, You loved this world so much, that you gave your one and only Son,
That we might be called your children too.
Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace of Easter Sunday, everyday.
Let us have hearts of thankfulness for your sacrifice.
Let us have eyes that look upon Your grace and rejoice in our salvation.
Help us to walk in that mighty grace and tell your good news to the world.
All for your glory do we pray, Lord, Amen.

TRAVEL ADVISORY

Please continue to follow health and safety guidelines during Easter vacation. Protocols for masking, distancing and mixing with people outside of your immediate family still need to be followed. The San Francisco Department of Public Health still recommends that we refrain from non-essential travel of more than 120 miles outside of your residence but they have lifted the requirement to quarantine following travel. However, if your activities put you or others at risk for COVID-19 infection we ask that you consider self-quarantining for 10 days following your return.

Dear STM Families,

Crimes targeting Asian Americans have risen nationwide since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to be alarming and disturbing. At St. Thomas More and at our Preschool, Utopia, we stand in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

The following excerpts are taken from a letter shared by Rachell Frantz, our Preschool Director, with our Utopia families last week. St. Thomas More School and Utopia "are committed to celebrating differences in our classrooms and creating inviting spaces that allow children and families to be their authentic selves. There is always room for us to learn from each other, engage in thoughtful conversations, develop our awareness and advocate for social justice. We are dedicated to exploring the topics of anti-racism, anti-bias, equity and diversity in developmentally appropriate ways for children while also providing resources and support for our families"..."Our staff honors each family's culture, heritage, and experience and will continue to prioritize anti-racism, inclusion and equity in our classrooms....We are fortunate to have strong teachers from diverse backgrounds that are leading by example in their work with the children at school. They exemplify dedication, patience, persistence and acceptance even during these most difficult times."

The following resources may be helpful to your family as you continue to talk to your children about race and racism in this country.
