View this email in your browser April 21, 2021 Dear STM Families,  Jesus says "I am the bread of life. Whoever believes in me will never thirst. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry." The Eucharist feeds our hunger for love.  Jesus Christ sacrificed himself so that we may be filled with life and have joy to the fullest. He loves us unconditionally. The joy and excitement of our second and third grade students as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion this coming Saturday can be felt throughout the school. Please keep them in your prayers as they move forward with this important step in their faith journey.  TRAVELING TEAMS HEALTH ALERT The following information was shared today regarding Traveling Teams by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. This information is especially relevant to 8th grade students who risk not being able to participate in graduation activities.  Traveling out of California for sports competitions is explicitly prohibited in both California State guidance and San Francisco Health Directives. These types of inter-state sports meets have been responsible for multiple large outbreaks of COVID-19. CDPH Guidance and SFDPH Health Directive (page 5, section 2.1): "Teams must not participate in out-of-state games and tournaments; several multistate outbreaks have been reported around the nation, including California residents." Any students who violate this must follow California's Travel Advisory and quarantine for 10 days upon return, a period which may be shortened to 7 days with a negative test. CHEF IT UP offers students a virtual "hands-on" cooking and learning experience all done in the safety of your home. Our qualified team will create an hour long, fun-filled, cooking class for students of all ages to enjoy. The use of easy-to-follow recipes, safe tools and gadgets, and all "PEANUT & TREE NUT FREE" ingredients can make cooking fun for everyone! Students will prepare, enjoy and share delicious creations with each class.  Students will receive the list of ingredients needed a week prior to the start of each class. Ingredients will be kept "basic" and can be purchased at any local grocery store. A basic kit of kitchen tools will be provided to each student and delivered to the St. Thomas More Office for pickup. View this email in your browser April 14, 2021 Dear STM Families,  Now that we have returned from Easter vacation we are settling down to the last major stretch of the school year. The next 6 weeks will be full of activities including such major milestones in the lives of our children as First Reconciliation (indoors) and First Communion (outdoors) for 2nd and 3rd graders, Confirmation (indoors) for 7th and 8th graders and Graduation (outdoors) for the class of 2021. All events will be limited to immediate family (max. 4 adults) and siblings. Invitations will be sent for each event and all guests names and phone numbers will be required for contact tracing purposes. Expect further details from classroom teachers shortly.  Over 70% of students are now back for in-person learning much to the joy of their classmates and their teachers. We hope and pray that next school year will be uneventful and as normal as possible as we reach post-pandemic times. KINDERGARTEN COMMUNITY HELPERS Today in Kindergarten, we learned about community helpers and how important they all are! Here are our community helper hats. We have farmers, police officers, fire fighters, chefs, nurses, doctors, and detectives. We're aiming to get at least 75 responses so that we may submit more data to the Archdiocese for our annual report that is due on May 1. Your assistance is very much appreciated! This Catholic Identity Assessment Guide incorporates a vision of the Catholic character of the school within an assessment and review process designed to identify strengths and target areas for growth. The focus of this assessment process is to build on the strengths within the school while affirming and encouraging efforts to live out the Catholic character in all aspects of the school's life.
