Extended Care

Part-Time Help Wanted

We have an opening for a part-time staff position at St. Thomas More School's Extended Care. The shifts usually are great for college students who have their afternoons free.  Ideally, we prefer college-aged STM alumni, but that is not a requirement.  If you know anyone interested, please let me know and give them my contact info.  Thank you.

Newsletter for Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Dear Parents,

Welcome to your last Wednesday newsletter of the year! No permission slips, no pizza or hot dog lunch order forms…the year is rolling to an end.

Class of 2015: The graduates are off on their last service project today serving lunch to the Glide Memorial community. Tomorrow they will embark on their graduation trip to Great America before they return for all the activities of graduation day this Friday. We are saying good-bye to a fine class of eighth grade students. They have earned awards and recognition for their academic achievements from several of the high schools at which they have been accepted! The student body will come together for the graduates' last Mass as STM students this Friday at 11:00 a.m. The graduation ceremony will be at 5:00 p.m. that evening. At those events, students will pray together, share their thoughts about their time at STM, hear the announcements of awards, and celebrate this educational milestone in their lives. We salute our graduates and hope you will join them at either or both ceremonies. Congratulations to: Michelle Auyeung, Lara Bautista, Laura Bonomi, Joshua Bustos, Russell Chan, Chloe David, Izadora de Oliviera, Lemar Deguzman, Olivia Del Rosario. Skyler Dela Cruz, Kevin Dunn, Olivia Edwards, Matthew Goncalves, Kenneth Jung, Hannah Leung, Ryan Lobre, Seth Maldonado, Jesse Manalo, Anthony Martinez, Addison Miller, Isabella Mingoa, Blake Owens, Ava Ragasa, Nixie Ricafort, Nicolas Riego, Dylan Rojo-Cagadoc, Gaven Roque, Reuben Salbad, Marlyn San Juan, Jonathan Santos, Melissa Sheridan, Zoe Taylor, Elijah Trigueros, Shivaya Urcuyo, John-Azel Velez, Isabella Villante, Jacqueline Villarosa, and D'Andre Virgin.

Free Dress Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday/Used Uniform Collection: All students have free dress next week to end out the school year and to facilitate the donation of uniform pieces that your children have outgrown or that you will no longer be using. We are looking for a couple of parent volunteers to help sort these items as they arrive next week. Help is also needed to wash these items before our used uniform sale on August 15th. If you are available to help, please contact the school office.

New Uniform Sale/Scrip: Simply Uniform will be coming on campus for a special new uniform sale on Saturday, August 15th, 2015. We will have Simply Uniform scrip on hand so that you can start earning scrip credit for the 2015-2016 school year. Don't forget, Simply Uniforms will be giving 10% off of purchases during this sale.

Both Heidi Haas (Kindergarten) and Megan Kennedy (2nd grade) will be moving on from St. Thomas More School. Leaving us also is one of our Learning Support Specialists, Tara Geoghegan. We wish everyone well as they pursue new challenges in their careers and take advantage of new opportunities.

We are excited to announce that Judy DeMicheli will be joining Anna Tyaglo team teaching kindergarten in the Fall. Jeannette Santillan, who has been aiding in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, will be a full-time teacher next school year.

We look forward to welcoming Kathleen Wilkinson as the second grade teacher next year. Taking the place of Tara, we welcome Lynne Ruppel to the Learning Support Program.

We would also like to congratulate both our Kindergarten teacher, Anna Tyaglo and her husband, Oleg, who are expecting their second child in July as well as Megan Kennedy, and her husband, Tim, who are expecting their third child in October!

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families who volunteered their time this school year. Activities like showing up for yard duty, volunteering as class reps, attending the Parents' Club meetings and School Advisory Board meetings, chaperoning on field trips, working on Cioppino, the Food Festival, and numerous other school activities, would not happen without you. Your involvement allows St. Thomas More School to be a wonderful place for your children to grow and develop. A special thank you also to those who have donated paper, envelopes, used cartridges, and books for our library. Together we make a big difference in the lives of our children.

Have a fantastic Summer!

Sincerely,

Marie Fitzpatrick

Newsletter for Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Dear Parents,

This past weekend, the church celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church and the gift of the Holy Spirit – the sending of the Holy Spirit by our Lord Jesus Christ. Having been with his disciples for forty days after the resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. Pentecost closes the Easter Season. It celebrates the overwhelming experience of God giving the Holy Spirit to the first community of believers in the church. The color of the vestments and decorations for Pentecost is red, which symbolizes the intense love and fire of the Holy Spirit. From now until the beginning of the Advent Season we will celebrate the church season known as Ordinary Time. We now see the return of the green vestments that are a symbol of life and growth in the church.

As most of you know, Voltaire Estrada, father of one of our third graders, Angelica, was killed in a tragic accident on Saturday, May 23rd. The 8:30am Mass on Friday, May 29th will be offered for the repose of his soul. All are welcome to join us. Please continue to keep Angelica and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Yearbook: Today those who have pre-ordered a yearbook are receiving it in their Envelope. There are still a few copies available but a sellout is assured! Remember, memory books are now $25 and can be purchased from the office until our supply runs out.

Tuition and Fees: Do you have any unpaid tuition or fees (including the scrip requirement and extended care) for this school year? Please make sure you settle up before the 10:00am dismissal on June 10th, in order that your child/children may receive their report cards in a timely manner. Report cards for students absent on the last day will be filed in their cumulative folders and may be picked up during the summer or next school year.

Yesterday's Talent Show was a very exciting event with one incredible act after another. Thank you to all who were willing to share their talents with their fellow students. And last but not least today Mr. Cummins, our PE teacher, ended his school year with an energetic field day where students got to compete with their Faith Families. Watch out for other exciting events to come as the school year draws to a close.

Sincerely,
