STM Newsletter for May 29, 2013

Dear Parents:

As May draws to a close, we reflect on its association with Mary. During this special month, in which we celebrated Christ’s Ascension into Heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we are reminded to always keep Mary in our hearts. As we carry on through the year, we should continue to develop a deep personal relationship with Mary – one of love, affection, devotion and trust, so that she always has an important place in our lives. Let’s all try to take some practical steps such as praying the Rosary or maybe saying a special prayer like the Memorare throughout the year, not just during May, to deepen our devotion to Mary. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen of Peace, so as we pray, we offer our prayers for peace in our city and throughout the world.

Sandwiches-for-the-needy: Just a reminder that our final collection of sandwiches-for-the-needy is this coming Friday, May 31st. We ask that all grades pull together to provide sandwiches that day. Thank you once again to all who have supported these collections throughout the year.

Food Drive: During Spirit Week, we are choosing to show and share the spirit of THINKing like Jesus to those around us. We ask everyone’s help with participating in our weeklong food drive for the San Francisco Food Bank. We have barrels here at school for your donations and will continue the collection through May 31st. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity!

American Red Cross Bake Sale: As part of Spirit Week, the Student Council will be conducting an ALL DAY bake sale tomorrowThursday, May 30th. Feel free to join us at either recess (10:30 or 12:40) or after school to purchase from the bake sale. Proceeds from this bake sale will be donated to the American Red Cross to help those whose lives were changed by the tornados in Oklahoma. Please continue to keep everyone affected by this recent devastation in your thoughts and prayers.

Spirit Week!: Yesterday, we kicked off Spirit Week with pajama day. We had a great time this afternoon being active and sporty with a Rhythm and Moves Field Day. Thanks to our PE teacher, Mike Shimabukuro, for organizing such fun activities. Moving along, Spirit week continues tomorrow as the students enjoy Twin Day. We round out the week with Wacky, Crazy Friday. Students are allowed free dress and are allowed to show their wacky, crazy side. Absolutely no make-up or hair coloring allowed. On Friday afternoon, the student body will enjoy watching 4th-8th grade knock-out followed by the Sports Awards. All are invited to come and watch the fun in the gym beginning at 12:30pm sharp.

Yearbook: Today those who have pre-ordered a yearbook are receiving it in their Envelope. There are still a few copies available but a sellout is assured! Remember, memory books are now $25 and can be purchased from the office until our supply runs out.

Tuition and Fees: Do you have any unpaid tuition or fees (including the scrip requirement and extended care) for this school year? Please make sure you settle up before the 10:00amdismissal onJune 12th, in order that your child/children may receive their report cards in a timely manner. Report cards for students absent on the last day will be filed in their cumulative folders and may be picked up during the summer or next school year.

5th-8th grade Responsibilities: Returning students in grade 4th-7th will be receiving the 2013-2014 5th- 8th grade responsibilities today also. Please read, sign and return that form by Monday, June 10th. We suggest you make a copy for your records.

Parents' Club: A BIG thank you to our 2012-2013 Parents’ Club for all the fundraising they have done over this past school year. NextThursday, June 6th is the last Parents’ Club meeting of the school year. This will be held in Carroll Hall at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
