Dear Friends,

There is no greater gift to pass on to a child than the gift of faith. As parents of children who attend a Catholic school, you have a desire for your children to understand how wonderful God is in their lives. Their teachers, with you, ignite their awareness of God's life in them and God's love for all of us. St. Thomas More supports you as you create in your home the sacred space children need to grow in their appreciation for God's love.

Tomorrow, we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of Obligation. Please consider joining the student body at the 8:30am mass.

A big thank you to Gina Sheridan and Ivette Roca who once again successfully co-chaired Santa's Secret Shop this year. The children had a wonderful time shopping for all those on their list. Thank you also to all who volunteered their time to set up and help the children with their Christmas shopping last week.

Thank you for your presence and support at the Family Mass last Sunday. A special thank you to the second and seventh graders and their teachers Miss Wilkinson and Mr. Kavanagh for putting together such a beautiful and reverent service. It was nice to see all our First Communion and Confirmation candidates as they continue their faith filled journey towards Christ.

We hope you all enjoyed the activities of this past weekend. Thanks to the Parents' Club, and the Alumni Association and all who worked so hard on the Holiday Faire, Pancake Breakfast and other activities. A big thanks especially to Jessica Ramirez, Raquel Trigueros, and Linda Shah who took leadership roles in organizing this event. The pancake breakfast was enjoyed by all and a special thank you to the 7th and 8th grade dads who showed up to cook/serve breakfast.
PEANUT BUTTER FRIDAY
As a reminder, we are collecting peanut butter for the St. Vincent de Paul society. If we reach our goal of 800 jars of peanut butter by Friday, December 16, the student body will enjoy free dress on Tuesday, December 20. Please send a jar (or two!), any kind, any size with your child by Friday, December 16.
Current count: 553!
TOY DRIVE
The SF Firefighters toy barrel is now in the office and is awaiting your donations! Please consider donating new, unwrapped toy(s) for kids ages infant to 12 years old. Let's continue to "Show the Wideness of God's Mercy" to less fortunate kids in our community, especially at this time of the year. We will continue collecting the toys until December 16.

STM CROSSWALK CHANGES
Effective Thursday, December 8, for student safety, we are moving the crosswalk from the middle of Thomas More Way to the upper corner of the street by the church. Students and families are to cross at the corner crosswalk of Thomas More Way. You will no longer be able to cross only in the middle of the block. Please share this information with all family members who may be picking up your child/ren.

Some Traffic Reminders:

  • No jaywalking
  • Do NOT double park to pick up or drop off passengers
  • No U-turns
SCRIP
This Friday, December 9 is the last day to order gift cards through the scrip program before the Christmas break. Orders placed by the 6am deadline will be sent home next week.

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS EVE LITURGY
Calling all Angels, Shepherds, Wise Men and readers! Please consider having your child participate in the Christmas Eve Children's Liturgy. Practices are held Monday and Wednesday Evenings 5:30-6:30pm and Saturday afternoons from 1-2pm in the church. Please contact Kathy Sanford at 650-738-0646 or Jessica Ramirez at 415-516-4150 for more information
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
On December 15, our students will present their Christmas Program and will sing a selection of favorite Christmas Carols. All students will be involved in this production. This year we are excited to present the program on the almost completed stage in our gym.

Students should wear dressy clothes unless told otherwise by their classroom teacher. No t-shirts, sweats or Uggs please. Pants/dressy jeans should be fitted and not baggy.

The yard will be open for parking beginning at 5:45pm. The gym doors will open at 6:00pm to allow students to enter their classrooms and for parents to enter the gym. Everyone is asked to line up in an orderly manner until the gym doors open. All students need to arrive by 6:20pm at the latest. We will begin the program promptly at 7:00 pm.

We are asking that everyone attending this fun event considers bringing one or two new, unwrapped toys as part of our toy drive for needy children, or a jar or two of peanut butter for our peanut butter drive. We look forward to your attendance for this faith-filled and fun-filled production. Everyone is welcome!
CIOPPINO 2017: Please mark your calendars for our 25th Annual Cioppino Dinner Dance and Silent Auction on Saturday, February 25, 2017. The evening includes appetizers, antipasto, salad, garlic bread, cioppino (or chicken if you prefer), dessert, balloon prizes and a fabulous auction. Babysitting is also available on site! Make an ONLINE RESERVATION!

And finally, congratulations to our 2nd grade teacher, Kathleen Wilkinson, who is sporting a beautiful new engagement ring. Our best wishes go to her and her fiancé, Peter.

Sincerely,

Marie Fitzpatrick
