| | Dear Parents, As part of our preparation for the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, students in grades 3-8 received the sacrament of Reconciliation yesterday. It was on Easter Sunday evening that Jesus appeared to his Apostles, gathered together in the Upper Room, where they had eaten the Last Supper. Jesus spoke to them reassuringly. Let St. John (20:19-23) tell it: Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, 'Peace be to you!' When he had said this, he breathed upon them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit; whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.' To paraphrase our Lord's words in more modern terms, what he said was this: As God, I have the power to forgive sin. I now entrust the use of that power to you. You will be My representatives. Whatever sins you forgive, I shall forgive. Whatever sins you do not forgive, I shall not forgive. Please consider joining us next Wednesday, March 14 for the following activities. - SCHOOL MASS As we won't be in session next Friday, we will be attending mass as a school on Wednesday, March 14 at 8:30am in the church.
- AWARDS CEREMONY Following mass, we will hold our third quarter Academic Excellence and Citizenship Award ceremony.
- PEACE WALK As communities of faith, on March 14, at 10am, St. Thomas More School, along with our neighboring Brotherhood Way schools, The Brandeis School of San Francisco and KZV Armenian School, are participating in the National School Walkout to honor the victims of the tragic events that unfolded on February 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. We will exchange "peace (post)cards" with students from the other schools. As you talk to your child about these events, please remind them that during times of tragedy or great sadness our Catholic communities turn to God for solace and guidance.
