| | Dear Friends, There is no greater gift to pass on to a child than the gift of faith. As parents of children who attend a Catholic school, you have a desire for your children to understand how wonderful God is in their lives. Their teachers, with you, ignite their awareness of God's life in them and God's love for all of us. St. Thomas More supports you as you create in your home the sacred space children need to grow in their appreciation for God's love. | | | ADVENT PRAYER SERVICES Thank you to the 7th graders for preparing a lovely prayer service yesterday as we continue through the Advent season. Please join us next Tuesday, December 11, for our next prayer service presented by Transitional Kindergarten in the gym at 8:10am. | | | SCHOOL UNIFORM PANTS FOR GIRLS Beginning tomorrow, December 6 through March 29, girls will be able to wear uniform pants if they wish. Those who decide to purchase uniform pants, may do so through either of the uniform companies that we contract with, Dennis Uniform and Simply Uniforms. Please remember that navy blue knee-high socks need to be worn with the pants. Girls must wear their uniform skirts (not the pants) on field trips or on occasions specified by the school. Please remember that Simply Uniform and Dennis Uniform scrip can be purchased for all your uniform needs! STAY WARM! During these cold and wintery days, please be sure to send your child to school with a warm coat or jacket. While we understand that it may be raining upon drop-off and pick-up, we strongly suggest your child does not bring an umbrella to school. Often the strong winds and heavy rain make the umbrellas difficult to use, especially for the younger children. | | For Santa's Secret Shop Rose de Dios Alaina Guillermo For the First Communion and Confirmation candidates presentation mass Mrs. Byrne Mr. Kavanagh For the Holiday Faire and Pancake Breakfast Catherine Elumba Candace Elumba Mia Beasley Janelle Arquiza Vilaska Nguyen A special thank you to the 6th and 8th grade dads and moms who showed up to cook/serve breakfast to 205 hungry guests! Let's continue to help the less fortunate kids in our community, especially at this time of the year. We will continue collecting the toys until December 12. All students who donate will received a candy cane! | | | | The WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states (26 archdioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. It began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process. STM is in the process of WCEA accreditation and an accreditation committee will visit us in February 2019. As part of the process, we have been tasked to establish several goals. Here are a couple of goals we would like to share with you today: - Build understanding of how charitable organizations work. Classes will choose one or two local or global organizations to learn more about, eg. The Red Cross.
- Increase the role of Faith Families in the school in addition to their monthly meetings.
Over the next few months, we will continue to share some more of our goals with you. | | | AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES As we mentioned last week, we are excited to introduce some new, exciting after school classes through Electivity. Click here to see more information and to register online. The password to access the page is stmwin19. Classes will be held on campus and are open for all Kindergarten through 8th grade students. | | LET OTHERS KNOW WHY YOU LOVE STM Please take a moment to help market our school by rating us on Yelp and Great Schools. Your positive feedback matters to those potential families who search schools on these sites. Thank you for helping to spread the word about STM! Please print out a copy of your submission and turn it in to the office for a free dress pass for your child. | | | CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Next Thursday, December 13, our students will present their Christmas Program and will sing a selection of non-traditional Christmas Carols. All students will be involved in this production. Again this year we will be presenting the program at the Shah Center for The Performing Arts. We are requesting that your child wear Christmas nice fancy dress. No t-shirts, sweats, Uggs or sneakers please. Pants/dressy jeans should be fitted and not baggy. The yard will be open for parking at 6:00pm. The gym doors will open at 6:15pm to allow students to enter their classrooms and for parents to enter the gym. Everyone is asked to line up in an orderly manner until the gym doors open. All students need to arrive by 6:30pm at the latest. We will begin the program promptly at 7:00 pm. After their performance, students in grades TK-3 will remain with their teachers in their classrooms for the remainder of the evening and will return to the gym for the Grand Finale. We are asking that everyone attending this fun event considers bringing one or two jars of peanut butter as part of our collection. We look forward to your attendance for this faith-filled and fun-filled production. Everyone is welcome! | | | Click here for more information or to register online!
