Dear STM Community, When we receive Holy Communion, Jesus comes into our hearts and nourishes us with his grace, heals our wounds, and strengthens us to fight temptation. Teaching children how to reverently receive Holy Communion is a gift that will benefit them forever. Most of us can recall the excitement and awe of receiving our First Communion. Second grade students along with some older students have been preparing for receiving their First Holy Communion this coming Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11am. Our whole school is celebrating with them on this very special occasion in their lives. Please keep them in your prayers. Pope Francis refers to the Eucharist as a gift. He reminds us about how important the Eucharist is to our faith journey. He encourages us to receive the Eucharist as a family as often as possible if we are so disposed and in the state of grace. Our Holy Father spoke to a group of children in Italy as he recalled his First Holy Communion many years ago. He addressed the children and stated, "You will make your First Communion, always remember that day your whole life: the first day that Jesus came to us. He comes, makes himself one with us, makes himself our food, our nourishment to give us strength."

The 19th annual essay contest sponsored by the Young Men's Institute (YMI) Council #613 announced its winners. Congratulations to our 6th and 7th grade students who won almost $4,000 in prize money in the YMI contest. A special shout out to Sarah Noguera, 7th grade, for coming in 2nd overall in the elementary school section of Archdiocese of San Francisco and bringing home the $1,000 prize. Other prize winners include the following: Cyrhen Cuadra, Collin Noguera, Kaden Madrid, Anson Mann, Kaitlyn Juhl, Eli Reyes, Paolo Bustos, Chloe Tan, Daniela Ruiz, Mathias Vega. Congratulations to all the STM award winners and their sponsoring YMI member, and our 7th grade teacher, Mr. John Kavanagh. | | | 2022-2023 STM RE-REGISTRATION RETURNING STUDENTS All current TK-7 STM students will be automatically re-registered for the 2022-2023 school year. Please make sure your FACTS account is up to date. The re-registration fee of $450 will be billed to your FACTS account on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Re-registration fee is due by Friday, April 15, 2022. The fee will increase to $600 if not paid by April, 15, 2022. FINANCIAL POLICIES Here are the updated Financial Policies for the 2022-2023 school year. The tuition increase of approximately 4.5% will assist in balancing our budget. The rising cost of employee salaries and benefits, textbooks, school supplies and student activities were all factors in deciding the new tuition rates. All other fees have remained the same for the past five years. Contact our office at office@stmsf.org if you have any questions. | | | PARENT PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS AND TUITION AGREEMENT FORMS 2022-2023 Please submit your Parent Participation Requirements and Parent Tuition Agreement forms if you have not done so already. Please sign and return the parent tuition agreement and parent participation requirements by April 13, 2022. Contact us at office@stmsf.org if you have any questions. | | | | FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS Due April 15, 2022 The deadline to apply for the CARL and CELIA GELLERT FOUNDATION FUND and STM Financial Aid is approaching. This will be the only opportunity to request financial aid for the 2022-2023 school year so please avail of this service now. Both an application with TADS (www.mytads.com) and the STM Form need to be completed. Grants will be awarded based on information received from TADS. Please contact Nancy Cottura at ncottura@stmsf.org if you have any questions. | | | STRATEGIC PLANNING 2022-2023 Guided by our mission to foster spiritual, intellectual and social growth in a diverse community of students, St. Thomas More School is launching a Strategic Planning Project this Spring, 2022. Strategic Planning is a disciplined and focused process of research, discovery, dialogue and decision making about the future of an organization. In light of my retirement, I'm starting Phase I of the planning process now so that we can use the rest of this school year to gather the historical information and insights needed to enable my successor to quickly step into Phase II of the process next year with a strong supportive Strategic Planning Sub Committee in place. We've hired an external consultant who will help guide our community through the process. We need your help to make this initiative successful! I will be inviting the members of our Parents' Club, Advisory Board and Athletic Board to our initial retreat in May but know that many of you have much to contribute to the success and growth of our school.
