Hello STM Broncos!

Welcome back!  We hope you all had a restful four-day weekend! Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our community as safe and healthy as possible.

Congratulations to 7th grade student Raiden and his mother Maria who represented our St. Thomas More community at a very special event last week at the Oakland Zoo. Special thanks to Jane Goodall's Institute Roots and Shoots for making it all possible. Their motto - Be bold, be kind, do good - is very applicable to the values we hold near and dear to our hearts at STM.  Check out the report here:  News Report Link.  We will be starting our very own Kindness Club at STM that allows students to create service projects to help with a variety of causes.

We are returning to Outdoor Education! Our 5th, 6th and 7th grades will be participating this year!  Our entire school community is rallying to help make this happen.  There will be a variety of fundraising opportunities to help.  Get an early start on holiday shopping by supporting the Outdoor Education Fundraiser. 40% of all the sales goes back to the school! Special thanks to Lally Tan for helping to organize and bring Outdoor Ed back to STM!

Halloween is only a few weeks away and we are all very excited.  Please make sure to be aware of the following:

Types of Costumes: Thank you in advance for ensuring that your child's costume is culturally sensitive. Thank you as well for not sending them to school with any props (guns, knives, etc.) and for keeping costumes age-level appropriate for all our learners (we have four-year old students on campus). We want to encourage a safe and fun environment. Consult with your classroom teacher to make sure your child's costume is appropriate.

Halloween Costume Reminders:

-       Age appropriate

-       Bathroom accessible

-       Make-up must be applied at home

-       Shoes must be comfortable for walking/dancing

-       No weapons of any kind

-       No excessive blood - droplets can be permitted

Thank you for all your support!

We are all truly blessed to be part of such an amazing community!

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

God bless you all!

Peace, love, happiness and harmony.

David Greenbaum (Mr. G.), Principal

BREAKTHROUGH SAN FRANCISCO

WHAT IS BREAKTHROUGH?

Breakthrough is an amazing opportunity for students and families. Our goal is to support motivated students on the path to college by helping them develop the skills they need to be successful in an academically rigorous setting. Accepted students participate in our year-round, tuition-free, out of school-time programming until the end of middle school with ongoing workshops and support throughout high school. We provide middle school, high school, and college admissions support, and create an inclusive and collaborative community where students can thrive.

BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM

This is an eight year commitment (grades 5-12) for students who know they want to go to college and are willing to take advantage of the great opportunities and resources Breakthrough has to offer, which include:

  • academically intensive, skills-based summer programming the summers before 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades,
  • comprehensive school-year programming with after-school tutoring and enrichment twice a week during the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade school years,
  • middle and high school admissions support to enter high performing, best fit schools,
  • test prep, college exposure through college talks and visits, admissions counseling and personal enrichment workshops during the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades

Participating students must demonstrate academic motivation as well as meet our need criteria. For more information and a link to our application (coming soon), check out our website
