Notes from Counselor Jennifer Corry

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

This awareness is an ongoing effort to understand, openly discuss, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. It involves recognizing signs of mental illness, educating the public, fostering empathy, and encouraging people to seek help.

The 5 C's of mental health commonly include Connection, Compassion, Coping, Community, and Care. This framework helps build resilience and emotional well-being by fostering supportive relationships, managing stress, practicing self-compassion, and promoting self-care

For immediate mental health support during May (Mental Health Awareness Month) and beyond, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline 24/7 in the U.S.

Other key resources include texting "HOME" to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or calling the NAMI HelpLine at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264)
