| | Dear Parents, Our second graders will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday, April 23rd at 10:00am in the church. First Holy Communion, the second sacrament of initiation, is usually received at about age seven or eight, about the time when the children are in second grade. Because receiving the Eucharist for the first time is such a special sacrament, assisting your child in preparing to receive First Holy Communion, both by instruction and example, is important. By attending Mass frequently, participating in reconciliation on a regular basis and abiding by Catholic values, we can show children how their relationship with God can become stronger. Eucharist is a celebration of what Jesus did at the Last Supper. The word Eucharist means "to give thanks". When we celebrate this sacrament, we thank God for His many gifts and blessings. All are welcome to join us. Please keep the second graders in your prayers as they prepare for this special day. At this time, we also ask that you take a moment to complete the Catholic Identity Program Effectiveness Parent Survey. This survey is a necessary and important part of the process of school accreditation. The results from the survey are electronically collated and the results will be incorporated into our next WASC study. | | Parent Tuition Agreement and Parent Participation Requirements: Returning kindergarten through seventh graders are receiving the Parent Tuition Agreement and the Parent Participation Requirements for the 2016-2017 school year today. Congratulations to the following students who raised the most in their class for the spell-a-thon and turned in all their pledges by the due date: Camila Rios (K), Elizabeth Alvarado (1st), Gabrielle Remo (2nd), Marquez Beasley-Bell (3rd), Darby Curran (4th), Ethan Taylor (5th), Ariana Montiel (6th), Michael Conefrey (7th), and Rainier Dela Cruz (8th). These students will be receiving their certificates and free dress passes tomorrow. The highest fundraiser in the school was Darby Curran (4th) with $500, and the class that raised the most funds with an average contribution of $69.70 per student, and winners of a popcorn and movie party, is kindergarten. Second and fourth graders were close behind with also more than an average $60 pledge per child. The spell-a-thon raised just over $14,000 (that's $2000 more than last year!). We are also happy to report that 41 students will also receive a certificate for getting 100% correct on their spell-a-thon. Congratulations and thank you again to everyone who participated. Funds will be used to support and upgrade our technology program. | | Enjoy the sunny weather! Sincerely, Marie Fitzpatrick Principal | | | | | | |
