For several weeks, there have been reports on social media concerning "creepy clown" sightings and pranks. While these reports come from different parts of the country, they all share a similar theme of frightening people and threatening violence. Others have also reported seeing "creepy clowns" near schools. These threats are just the latest of many clown-related incidents nationwide. Yesterday morning the Archdiocese recommended that we put our staff on heightened alert. Today, I am asking teachers to speak to the students about this in an age appropriate manner. Please talk to your children about this issue. Ask them to let you know if any social media threats are made against them or their friends. We all need to be vigilant to ensure that students are safe, both on and off campus. As we approach Halloween we strongly suggest that you avoid purchasing clown costumes, especially those with masks that conceal a person's identity. Stay safe, Marie Fitzpatrick |
