You are receiving your newsletter today as both Melody and myself attended an all-day Archdiocese Human Resources training yesterday and were unable to send it out.
Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on March 1, marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. Lent is a time when we prepare as a faith community to meet the risen Christ at Easter. It is a time for us to turn away from what keeps us from living the Gospel, and to remind ourselves that we are called to lives rooted in justice. To be just in the biblical sense is to be in a right relationship with God. Over the 40 days of Lent, we pray for a change of heart towards greater love of God and each other as we share our food, our wealth and our time with others in need. May the Holy Spirit give us the strength to act justly, the courage to love tenderly and the faith to walk humbly with our God, as we prepare for the resurrection of Jesus at Easter time.
This past Tuesday, Mr. Mike from the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) visited with the students to let them know about the important work MCA is doing in Korea, Nigeria and Mexico. The children learned they could help missionaries do Jesus' work by praying for them and by sharing their resources. Please ask your children about how they might help others during Lent. Next week students will receive Lenten boxes to aid them in sharing their resources with MCA so that their missionaries can continue their good work in the world.

This Saturday, February 25, we will celebrate our 25th Annual Cioppino dinner. This event is sold out!! Tickets will not be given out this year, instead, those attending will check in at the door. Free dress passes will be given on Friday to students whose parents made a reservation to attend this fun event or gave a donation valued at $20 or more (this does NOT include contributions to a class basket). These passes may be used only on Monday, February 27. | | | CIOPPINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
