View this email in your browser Dear Parents: For the first time since 1945, today we are celebrating both Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday - two traditions with clashing appetites. One begins a 40-day journey toward Easter which encourages fasting and abstinence. The other promotes indulging in chocolate and fancy dinners. As Catholics, we need to remember that Ash Wednesday is our first priority. Lent is a season to Give, to Pray and to Fast as we prepare for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Thank you to all who joined us at today's Ash Wednesday mass. As Father Marvin expressed in his homily, today is a great day to wish your loved ones Happy VaLENTine's Day. It is a great reminder that our sacrifices and giving during the Lenten season come from the heart. As we mentioned last week, today your child is receiving individual coin collection Lenten boxes. Let's all make a special effort this season to continue to make a difference in the world.  GOLF TOURNAMENT Thank you to everyone who supported our 4th Annual Golf Tournament, The STM Classic. We had fantastic weather and it turned out to be a wonderful success. After expenses, we brought in $18,469 (which is $4,000 more than last year) to aid in the the upgrade and maintenance of our technology program. Congratulations to the winning team - Don Shaw, Joe O'Brien, George Birmingham and Joe Hardiman. A big thank you to Sinead Foley and Michael O'Shaughnessy (parents of Aoife, Kindergarten, and Anna, 5th grade) for planning and organizing the tournament. A big thank you also to Melody Dicks, Shelley White and Judy Silva who prepared the program, raffle ticket prizes and helped out on the day. Please mark your calendars for our 26th Annual Cioppino Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The evening includes appetizers, antipasto, salad, garlic bread, cioppino (or chicken if you prefer), dessert, balloon prizes and a fabulous auction. Babysitting is also available on site! MANDATORY PARENT MEETING We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, March 13 at 6:45pm for a mandatory parent meeting for all families of kindergarten through 8th grade. This is a mandatory meeting for all parents. At least one parent from each family is required to attend. More information will be available next week. Tuition Assistance Information STM TAP Unfortunately this year we did not receive sufficient funding to offer our in-house Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). We continue to solicit funds from private foundations and are hoping to be able to make this program available again next year should funding become available. TADS To apply for the Archdiocesan Scholarship Program for the 2018-2019 school year, parents can go to the TADS website, Once on their homepage click the link "Apply for Financial Aid" on the right side of the page, which is under the "Parents & Families" heading. Once you complete and submit the online form your application will be processed by TADS. The deadline for completing the application for elementary school assistance is April 15, 2018. Award letters will be sent out in May. The BASIC Fund The BASIC Fund has not yet sent renewal forms. When we receive the renewal forms, they will be sent home to families currently receiving The BASIC Fund.
