View this email in your browser December 1, 2021   Dear STM Families,  Yesterday, all our students attended an Advent Prayer Service in St. Thomas More Church. We attended in two groups, TK-3 and 4-8 to ensure adequate space and good ventilation for everyone. This marks a milestone in our recovery from the pandemic as it was the first time in almost two years that our younger students gathered in church for a liturgical service.  Students were reminded that Advent is a time of waiting, waiting for the birth of Jesus, who came to show us God the Father's love and to free us from sin, so that we could be with him together forever, waiting  for him to be born again in our hearts, our classrooms, our homes, our parish community, and in the whole world. The season of Advent is the four weeks in which we prepare for the birth of Jesus. Each week we light a candle on the Advent wreath to mark this journey to Christmas.  PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY Congratulations to Peter Mogannam, our principal for the day. Peter was lucky enough to be in church for our Advent Prayer Service and received a special blessing on his work as principal from Fr. Rick. FREE DRESS FRIDAY Principal Mogannam announced free day this Friday, December 3, 2021! Saturday, Dec. 11: Give Joy Holiday Event  Monday, Dec. 13: See's Candy delivered to school Wednesday, Dec. 15: Christmas Program (live streamed) Friday, Dec 17: Minimum Day 12:15/12:30 dismissal PARENTS' CLUB MEETING Thursday, December 2, 2021 Email parentsclub@stthomasmoreschool.org if you have any questions.  SANTA'S SECRET SHOP December 9-10   The Parents' Club presents their annual Santa's Secret Shoppe starting Thursday, December 9 and Friday, December 10. Over the two days, all the students will have an opportunity to purchase gifts for parents, friends and relatives. Each student should use the envelope they receive next week to help them plan their shopping and to keep their money safe. TOY DRIVE We will be donating to two organizations this year and have requested the help of the Student Council to reach out to students in all classes. We are going to divide our donations between the SF Firefighters Toy Program and Operation Santa Claus hosted by the Daly City Fire Department. Deadline for collections is December 13. STM GIVE JOY HOLIDAY EVENT Saturday, December 11, 2021 Join us at our indoor/outdoor event as we celebrate the holidays and GIVE JOY to our community!  Tickets are $5 per person and includes a hot cocoa or cinder. Or wishing you had been there when you saw the great items your friends brought home?  Cioppino Christmas Baskets are now here!  Do your Christmas shopping early and help our school at the same time. ​Order a beautiful gift basket custom made by the Cioppino Committee. Basket pick up will be at the Parents Club Christmas Fair on Saturday December 11. For other pick up arrangements, please contact Lina Shah (lp1114@aol.com)   ORDER BASKETS HERE   SEE'S CANDIES WINTER FUNDRAISER Did you know that the school receives 20% profit for each box of chocolate sold and 50% profit for the $6-$7 box? Even though this Fundraiser is an optional one, please try and participate. Every little bit helps towards raising funds for our school.
