Newsletter for Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Dear Parents,

This Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, is known as Palm Sunday. It is the beginning of Holy Week. It celebrates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. Great crowds of people thronged the streets waving palm branches to welcome Him. The people shouted "Hosanna" and laid their cloaks and palm branches from the nearby trees in His path. As we mentioned last week, as part of our preparation for the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, students in grades 3-8 received the sacrament of Reconciliation yesterday.

Please consider joining the student body for mass this Friday at 8:30am. Following mass, we will present the 3rd quarter Academic Awards. At 1:45pm the 4th grade will present the final stations of the cross.

Easter Vacation: As a reminder, Thursday, April 2nd is a minimum day for all Preschool-8th graders and the beginning of Easter Vacation. Preschool will dismiss at 12 noon, K-3 at 12:15pm and 4-8 at 12:30pm. There will still be extended care until 6pm that day for K-8 students. Street parking will be limited because of the early dismissal schedule. The school yard will be open between 11am-noon to facilitate the pick up of Preschool students.

STEAM Showcase: Also next Thursday, April 2nd, STEAM students will share their work and projects with STM students and families in a showcase that represent the rigorous work and training resulting from student collaboration, problem solving, effective communication, and critical thinking skills. Please drop by the gym between 11:00am-noon next Thursday to see all they have accomplished.

Neighborhood Concerns: Remind your children to be aware of strangers in the vicinity of STM. Recently, we have seen the return of one of the men who was involved previously in stealing money from the church and generally being a nuisance. The police have been alerted and we ask that you be aware of your surroundings when picking up and dropping off your children. Thank you to some alert parents for bringing this to our attention.
SPRING SHOW - THURSDAY, MARCH 26
Tomorrow night we are very excited to present our first Spring Show under the direction of Mary Powelson, our Theater Arts teacher. This year, we have divided the school into two performances, the lower grades (PK, K, 1, 2 & 3) and the upper grades (4, 5, 6, 7 & 8). All students will be involved in one of these shows either as performers or stage crew. We look forward to seeing you at one or both of these fantastic productions in the gym.

PK, K, 1, 2 & 3: The preschoolers through third graders will perform 1:30pm in the gym. Parking will be available in the schoolyard beginning at 12:45pm. The doors of the gym will open at 1:00pm.

4, 5, 6, 7 & 8: For the evening performance, the front doors of the school will open at 6:15pm to allow the 4th-8th grade students to enter their classrooms. Students should arrive no later than 6:30pm. Parking will be available in the schoolyard beginning at 6:00pm. The doors of the gym will open at 6:15pm.
RE-REGISTRATION FOR 2015-2016
