| | Dear Parents: As May draws to a close, we reflect on its association with Mary. During this special month, in which we celebrated Christ's Ascension into Heaven, we are reminded to always keep Mary in our hearts. As we carry on through the year, we should continue to develop a deep personal relationship with Mary – one of love, affection, devotion and trust, so that she always has an important place in our lives to deepen our devotion to Mary. Let's all try to take some practical steps such as praying the Rosary or maybe saying a special prayer like the Hail Mary or Memorare throughout the year, not just during May. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen of Peace, so as we pray, we offer our prayers for peace in our city and throughout the world. Thank you to our 1st grade teacher, Sue Kapovich, and 2nd grade teacher, Kathleen Wilkinson, for preparing a beautiful May Crowning ceremony during Family Mass last Sunday. A special thank you also to all the 1st and 2nd grade students who participated in such a lovely tradition. SANDWICHES-FOR-THE-NEEDY FINAL COLLECTION FOR 16-17! Just a reminder that our final collection of sandwiches-for-the-needy is this coming Friday, May 26th. We ask that ALL grades pull together to provide sandwiches that day. Natalia Girlich (8th grade/Vice-Principal) will be moving on from St. Thomas More School. We wish her well as she pursues new challenges in her career and take advantage of new opportunities. We are excited that Joanne Kane will be taking the reigns as the 8th grade teacher and are happy to announce that Shelley White has been appointed as the Vice Principal. Moving to a full-time classroom position is Rory McKillion who will be the 5th grade teacher next school year and we welcome Madeline Teegan who will teach ELA in the upper grades. Also leaving us and retiring after 27 years in the SF Archdiocese, six of those here at STM, is Rita Franchi, our office assistant. Taking over Rita's role full-time is Judy Silva, and we welcome Betty Quinlan who will also join us in the office. Another change for the 17-18 school year, will be the changing role of Sue Kapovich, our 1st grade teacher. We are extremely excited for this change as Mrs. Kapovich will head the Master's Program, a curriculum for accelerated learners. Please see the flyer in today's envelope for more information about this fantastic program. We look forward to welcoming Orlaith Egan as the new 1st grade teacher. Some more great news! We would like to congratulate our classroom aide and part time 1st grade teacher, Anjali Goel and her husband, Ajay, on the birth of their first child, Amaya, last week. Congratulations also to our preschool director, Rachelle Frantz, and her husband, Matt, who are expecting their second child in July! | | Don't forget, Monday, May 29th is a holiday in observance of Memorial Day.
