Dear Parents:

The Family Mass, Book Fair, the school-wide open house and the general spirit of goodwill were a fitting beginning to National Catholic Schools Week at St. Thomas More School. We have accomplished so much here by working together. A special thank you to our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers, Anna Tyaglo and Zoe Balmy for preparing a beautiful Family Mass with their students and families. We are so proud of our wonderful TK and Kindergarten students.

This is a good time to reflect on the benefit of being part of a Catholic school. The strong school community, grounded in a shared faith and the support and high expectations of parents, teachers and the larger community, offers your children a foundation for facing the rapidly changing world around them. By sharing this belief in God's goodness and living out their faith every day, your children are blessed with a clear advantage. Faith provides an anchor that will serve your children well into the future.
GRANDPARENTS DAY
Tomorrow we will wrap up Catholic Schools Week here at STM with Grandparents and Special Friends Day! Parking will be available in the schoolyard beginning at 8:30am. A light breakfast for the grandparents will be provided in the gym beginning at 8:30am and activities with the students will begin at 9:30am. Thank you to the 150+ special guests who have RSVP'd for this fun event. The children are really looking forward to welcoming them to our school. Your children are so lucky to have such special people in their lives.
DINO-MITE BOOK FAIR!
Today after school and tomorrow are your last chances to visit the Book Fair! Thank you to all who have visited. Can't make it to our Book Fair? Check out our Online Book Fair. Click here to purchase books. All orders will ship directly to the school when the Online Fair has ended.
ONE WARM COAT COLLECTION
Thank you so much to everyone who donated a warn coat to those in need. This is your last chance to send in your coat. All donations will be picked up at dismissal tomorrow, Thursday, January 31. A BIG thank you to Natalie and Matthew Juhl and Michelle Noguera for organizing this collection.
Total coats donated so far: 77!
STM SPELLING BEE
Congratulations to 5th grader, Vivian Nguyen, who won the school Spelling Bee on the word superintendent. The bee included three qualifiers each from grades 4-8. Second place went to 8th grader Eric Duarte and coming in 3rd was 6th grader, Aditi Kapadia. Congratulations to all of our students who participated.
There's still time to Sponsor a Hole!
CIOPPINO 2019
Have you made your reservation yet? We know this will be a sell-out again this year. Click here to make an ONLINE RESERVATION!

DONATIONS
The committee is now accepting donations of all kinds. Please drop all donations to the school office. To be eligible for a free dress pass, all donations must be received no later than February 11th.
FROM THE ATHLETIC BOARD
Registration for girls' basketball will close this Friday on February 1st. Follow this LINK to sign up your daughter. There are several grades that are lagging behind their anticipated sign ups. This may be because many players who have played in past years have not signed up yet this season.
PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP.
There will be no tryouts in any grade. The CYO regular season runs from early March to mid-May. There is a pre-season tournament in mid-February and practices may begin as February 15th (depending on the gym schedule). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact STM Basketball Coordinator John Kavanagh at jkav@stmsf.org.

STUDENT HOLIDAY
Please remember that the school, preschool through 8th grade, will be closed on Friday, February 1. This is the day set for the annual Archdiocese Professional Development for all Catholic school teachers and administrators.

Look for the February calendar of events in today's envelope. Keep this handy as February proves to be a busy month.

Sincerely,

Marie Fitzpatrick
