Dear Parents,

Have you noticed some extra people around the school this week? They are the WASC/WCEA Accreditation team and will be with us until Friday afternoon. The Western Catholic Educational Association is a private educational accrediting agency for Catholic elementary and secondary schools in ten western United States and the US Territory of Guam. A Visiting Committee spends three days with the school community after review of the Self Study document. During the three-day visit, the Committee visits classrooms, investigates the written evidence of responses to the WCEA criteria, holds interviews with the members of the school community, and prepares a written report on its findings. The Visiting Committee also writes a recommendation of an Accreditation Status based upon factors relative to the school community's successes and growth needs. This report and recommendation is given to the WCEA Commissioner. In May of each year, the full WCEA Commission reads the reports and recommendations and votes for an Accreditation Status for each school.
We are happy to report that everything is going very well. You have much to be proud of in your children, their academic accomplishments and the school you have chosen for their education. We are truly grateful to Teresa Villarosa and Michelle Noguera who will be here each day to provide delectable baked goods and delicious dinners.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Thank you to everyone who supported our 5th Annual Golf Tournament, The STM Classic. We had some pretty rainy weather but it turned out to be a wonderful success. After expenses, we brought in $23,066 (which is $4,500 more than last year) to aid in the the upgrade and maintenance of our technology program. Congratulations to the winning team - Don Shaw, Brad Thurman, George Birmingham and Joe Hardiman. A big thank you to Sinead Foley and Michael O'Shaughnessy (parents of Aoife, 1st grade, and Anna, 6th grade) for planning and organizing the tournament. A big thank you also to Melody Dicks, Shelley White, Betty Quinlan and Anna Tyaglo who prepared the program, raffle ticket prizes and helped out on the day.
On Saturday, February 23, we will have our annual Cioppino dinner and we are SOLD OUT! Tickets will not be given out this year, instead, those attending will check in at the door. Thanks for all your support!
