| There are many academic benefits of learning a foreign language for children. One study has shown that children who have studied a foreign language in elementary school tend to perform better on standardized tests than those who have not. Another study suggests that students who are taking a foreign language class outperform academically students who are not taking a foreign language.
Our current Spanish language program seeks to introduce children to the basics of the Spanish language and culture. Choosing to offer Spanish classes was as a result of a parent survey compiled approximately ten years ago.
As we plan ahead for next year, we value your input in deciding which foreign language you would like to see introduced at STM. Please be aware that the amount of time allotted to teaching a second language each week is not enough to prepare students to be more advanced for high school. |
