View this email in your browser Dear Parents, As we reach the middle of May, we continue to reflect on its association with Mary. During this special month, in which we celebrated Christ's Ascension into Heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we are reminded to always keep Mary in our hearts. As we carry on through the year, we should continue to develop a deep personal relationship with Mary – one of love, affection, devotion and trust, so that she always has an important place in our lives. Let's all try to take some practical steps such as praying the Rosary or maybe saying a special prayer like the Memorare throughout the year, not just during May, to deepen our devotion to Mary. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen of Peace, so as we pray, we offer our prayers for peace in our city and throughout the world. STM's GOT TALENT! What another fantastic Talent Show we were all able to enjoy yesterday! Congratulations to all who shared their talents with us. We look forward to seeing another great bunch of performances next year. A HUGE thank you to Miss Verzosa and Mrs. Wong for giving their time to organize auditions, practices, and overall ensuring a smooth show. Congratulations to all our candidates for running a very successful and effective campaign for the 2019-20 Student Council. All the candidates provided festive and informative campaign materials and each gave rousing campaign speeches to excite the 4th through 8th grade voters! Again this year, the ballots were collected and tabulated electronically. The results demonstrated that every candidate had the support of many voters and the races were fairly fought and fairly won! The following students will hold Student Council Officer positions for the 2019-20 school year:     Co-Presidents: Stephen Archer and Angelica Estrada Vice President: Reagan Calaguas Secretary: Savanna Pecson Treasurers:  Providence Poklay and Nicholas Wen Commissioners of Athletics:  Jemma Lacap and Xavier Chan Commissioners of Religious Affairs and Social Justice Outreach:  Austin Guevara and Santino Martinez Commissioners of School Spirit and Publicity:  Talissa Caragan and Penelope Siu Traffic Commissioners:  Talia Bumanglag, Conner Cristobal and Jordan Tan Lunch Commissioners: Sierra Pecson and Ashlee Triunfo Ecology Commissioner: Ethan Calaguas Social Media Commissioner: Darby Curran Yearbook Assistants: Isabella Alcantara and Stella de Guzman TDAP Parents of current 6th grade students need to submit evidence that their child has received their Tdap shot before August 9, 2019. Students without this on file will not be able to begin the 19-20 school year. GOING GREEN! Thanks to all who purchased a yearbook, St. Thomas More School is a now a TreeRing Green Yearbook School! Since we sold 174 yearbooks, Treering is working with our partner, Trees for the Future, to plant that many trees in STM''s name. IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES! Friday, May 17 - 8th grade graduation trip to Six Flags Friday, May 18 - 8th grade Graduation Social, Holy Name School Thursday, May 23 - 8th grade serve lunch at Glide Memorial Friday, May 24 - 8th grade graduation Mass, 11am, STM Church                          - 8th grade graduation ceremony, 5pm, STM Church Monday, May 27 - Memorial Day Holiday - no school Tuesday, May 28 - Move up day - TK-7th graders visit their new classroom and meet their teacher for next year! Friday, May 31- Last day of school TK-8, 10am dismissal                          - NO AFTERNOON EXTENDED CARE Wednesday, June 26 - Last day of school for Preschool Only a couple of weeks to go now!
