Dear STM Families,

Welcome to 2022! We look forward to a new year filled with joy, happiness and hope for the future. The children are so excited to be back in class with their friends and their teachers.

While the Bay Area is off to a rocky start with the uptick in Covid-19 cases from the omicron variant, our hope is that this will pass quickly over the next few weeks. We are blessed that we have almost our full staff healthy and back on campus following the Christmas break. Our parents and families are to be commended for diligently following the recommendations in place from the health department in regard to vaccinations, isolation, quarantine and testing. Your love and consideration for one another is obvious in the choices you are making. Our school community remains strong!

Our administration met again yesterday with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and will continue to do so on a weekly basis, as we closely monitor the Covid-19 virus. The latest information regarding protocols for schools can be found here: https://www.sfdph.org/dph/COVID-19/Schools-Isolation-and-Quarantine.asp

COVID-19 VACCINATION STATUS SURVEY

The following COVID-19 Vaccination Status Survey will assist us in preparing reports for the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). This information will help minimize our COVID response and notification times and avoid delays on obtaining vital information.

Please complete a survey for each child you have at our school. While completion of this survey is not mandatory, we appreciate your cooperation in working with us for the health and safety of our school and our families. Information from this survey will remain confidential, except for reporting to the SFDPH on an as needed basis.

THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY

Tomorrow, January 6th is the day set aside in many cultures to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany. The following excerpt from Spiritans speaks to this celebration. "As we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, we are reminded that Jesus, who was born in the stable at Bethlehem is revealed to us all. He is revealed to the rich and the poor. He is revealed to kings, shepherds and wise people. He is revealed to saints and sinners.  This feast is God's desire to reveal himself to us in a personal relationship rooted in the love of God that has come into the world.

As this new year begins, we must ask ourselves, how has Jesus' presence in our lives made a difference?  In order to answer this question, our relationship with Jesus must be the source of our strength and the peace and hope that comes into the world.  The Magi followed the star and found Christ. May we too, find the Lord who continues to search for us."

KINDERGARTEN AND TK SCREENINGS

Screenings scheduled for Saturday, January 8, have been rescheduled to avoid a large gathering of families onsite. As we have done in the past two years, screenings will be conducted over zoom again this year. All families will be contacted to set up a time for an individual screening. Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding admissions.

Winter is here and there are many families in our community who are in need of a warm winter coat. The health effects of extreme cold are life threatening.

Across the country, individuals and families are struggling to recover from the economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic, with 1 in 7 Americans currently living below the poverty threshold. The shelter of a coat is a basic need, like food and water, and the need is great right now.

Between January 5 and January 26, 2022,  St. Thomas More School will be collecting clean, new or gently used coats in conjunction with ONE WARM COAT. Your donations will benefit many local charities in the area which are in desperate need of coats. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Kindly drop coats in the bins provided.

PARENTS' CLUB MEETING

The next Parents' Club Meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 13th at 7 pm.

Happy New Year!
