View this email in your browser August 17, 2022 Hello Broncos!  School starts tomorrow, and we are excited to see everyone back at school. This year we are all focusing on joyful learning and wellness. Special thank you to Utopia Preschool and our TK-8 faculty and staff for coming together and preparing for the upcoming school year. Check out the picture of our staff at Lake Merced during our wellness retreat and community-building walk. We spent a couple of days getting to know all the new and returning staff. It was wonderful to bring all of us together.   There are so many exciting things happening at STM! Make sure to check out all the announcements below. Testing will help keep our schools safe. Each student will be given a COVID home test kit to take home tomorrow, August 18, 2022. Please check your child's backpack after school.  ANNUAL PARENTS' CLUB DUES The Annual Parents' Club Dues of $40 will be posted to the FACTS Accounts on August 22, 2022. MUSIC MATTERS FALL REGISTRATION Register for St. Thomas More School's Percussion Protocol and Wind Ensemble. Open to STM students grades 4-8. No experience is necessary.  For more information, see registration forms below. This is a mandatory meeting for all families. We will have a raffle for $100 off tuition for five STM families who arrive on time! Please pick up your raffle ticket at the teachers' tables. One ticket per child.  SCHEDULE Gates Open/Schoolyard Parking: 5:30 pm Check-In: 5:30-6:00 pm in the Gym Raffle: 6:00 pm Introductions: 6:00-6:20 pm Classroom Sessions Session 1: 6:30-6:55 pm Session 2: 7:00-7:25 pm ATTENDANCE At least one parent from each family is required to attend. Per the 2022-2023 Parent Participation Requirements, families without a representative in attendance will be assessed a $50 fee for a missed meeting. Please email your child's teacher if you are unable to attend.  PARKING Parking will be difficult, please plan to arrive on time. Limited parking will be available in the schoolyard so consider carpooling or parking on Brotherhood Way or in Park Merced. MASKING For your safety and that of our faculty and staff, we strongly recommend a well-fitted mask for all who attend Back-to-School Night. Please ask a staff member for a mask at the gym entrance if you need one. Masks will also be available in the classrooms.  EXTENDED CARE While it would be ideal if children could stay at home, we understand this is not always possible. Childcare for STM students will be available in Carroll Hall at $10 per family.  Please complete the reservation for childcare below. Walk-ins will be charged $20 per family.   LINK: Back-to-School Child Care Registration WELCOME A NEW MEMBERS TO STM Let's give a warm STM welcome to our new sixth-grade teacher, Jessica Manalo Angeles, and Dan Feyer, our musical theatre specialist! 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR INFORMATION School days for all students TK-8 will begin at 8:10 am promptly. First day of school for TK-8 is Thursday, August 18, 2022 and is a minimum day.  TK-8 School Calendar TK-8 Supply List Grades 3-8 Summer Reading HOT LUNCH REGISTRATION STM has a new hot lunch vendor, SchoolFoodies, for the 2022-2023 school year. Please refer to the registration Information below for more information on how to set up your child's hot lunch account.  LINK: SchoolFoodies Registration Information SCHOOL SCHEDULE MORNING DROP-OFF 7:45-8:10 am: All TK-8 students  8:10 am: Morning assembly in the schoolyard AFTERNOON DISMISSAL - TK-8 will be dismissed at the gate.    TK-3 Grades 4-8 Monday-Thursday  2:45 pm 3:00 pm  Friday 2:15 pm 2:30 pm  Minimum Day 12:15 pm 12:30 pm MORNING DROP-OFF Before you leave for school, please do a quick health check with your child at home. Please keep children at home if they are ill or showing any symptoms that may be related to COVID-19.  MORNING DROP-OFF The schoolyard gate will open at 7:45 am.  TK-8 students may be dropped off between 7:45-8:10 am in the morning.  Please drop students off in the white zone. Pull forward.   Drivers and family members, please stay in your vehicle.  For our younger students, please practice exiting the vehicle. STM staff members will be on traffic duty to supervise and help with morning drop-off.  If you must exit your vehicle, please find a parking space across the church or in the neighborhood and walk your child to school.  NO U-TURNS Please do not gather in front of the gate.     RETURN OF MORNING ASSEMBLY Students will stay in the schoolyard for morning assembly. Parents, family members, and other adults are not allowed in the schoolyard as we continue to limit visitors to our campus. TARDY STUDENTS Students arriving after morning assembly will enter through the front office doors for check-in and receive a tardy pass to give to their teacher. MORNING & AFTERNOON, EXTENDED CARE, AND LUNCH PROGRAMS Morning Care will be available from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. beginning Friday, August 19, 2022 Extended Care will be available until 6:00 p.m. daily beginning Friday, August 19, 2022 Hot Lunch by SchoolFoodies begins on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.  There may be a limited number of lunches for $7 each, on an emergency basis only. Emergency lunches will be billed to FACTS accounts. MASKS OPTIONAL According to the California Department of Public Health, masks are currently optional indoors and outdoors for our students and staff. Students are always welcome to wear masks in school. Masks are available in classrooms and the front office.  LINK: Masking Tips for Children A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS Below is the Back-to-School letter from Pamela Lyons, the Superintendent of Schools. We are very blessed at STM to have all of our homeroom teachers in place for the 2022-2023 school year. Unfortunately, we do not have a Mandarin and Spanish teacher at the start of school.
