October 14, 2020

Dear STM Community,

Today we received approval from the San Francisco Department of Public Health to reopen our school to families who wish to have their children return to in-person learning! We are excited to welcome our TK-2nd grade students back to the classroom on Monday, October 19th. Teachers will be following up with further information about drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as other pertinent details, over the next few days.

It has been a joy to see and hear the excitement of the children as they came by to take their school photos and drop off their carts and supplies.  We can't wait to hear the buzz of students next week in the classrooms and in the yard. Please take time to read over the STM Infection Mitigation Plan so that you understand the precautions we are taking and the various new schedules that we have adopted in order to ensure that drop-off and dismissal are staggered for all students.

Mandatory safety training meetings will be held for all parents/guardians of TK-2 grade students next week. We will provide you with the schedule in the next few days. Safety training for other parents will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

Student Council

Congratulations to our newly elected Student Council officials!

President - Imaan Ansari

Vice President - Ethan Calaguas

Secretaries - Ava Cacao, Jared Lim

Commissioners of Religious Affairs - Benny Davila, Devin Angeles

Commissioners of School Spirit - Elise Lau, Luis Jimenez Jr., Allie Pon

Student Body Historians - Anna O'Shaughnessy, Kaylee Custodio, David Tyaglo

Thank you to all those who put themselves forward as candidates. The campaign posters and speeches were very impressive!

Everyone who was on the ballot is invited to sit as a Student Council member.

We can't wait to see all the fabulous things the Student Council does this year!

The 8th grade class completed an Electoral College Project where each student researched current polling in their assigned states and made a prediction as to whether Trump or Biden would win. Here is a screenshot of their final analysis predicting Biden will soundly defeat Trump with the electoral votes breaking down 357-181.

As we progress through this month we are reminding students that October is the Month of the Rosary. Grandparents and other family members may have rosary beads that they  would like to show the children, or have stories to tell about how or when they received their beads. Our 2nd and 3rd graders may be looking forward to getting their first rosary in celebration of their First Communion. Consider taking time to pray the rosary with your family. The power of prayer will help us all cope with the many challenges we are faced with in our lives.

Kind regards,

Marie
