| | Dear Parents, Regular Mass attendance is a meaningful experience that helps children and parents understand, prepare for and celebrate many of the Sacraments, including First Reconciliation, First Communion and/or Confirmation. As you know the Sacraments help us build a life around Christ and in order to do that the Church teaches that it is necessary for the faithful to regularly attend Sunday Mass. In fact the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "The first precept of 'You shall attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor' requires the faithful to sanctify the day commemorating the Resurrection of the Lord as well as the principal liturgical feasts honoring the mysteries of the Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the saints; in the first place, by participating in the Eucharistic celebration, in which the Christian community is gathered, and by resting from those works and activities which could impede such a sanctification of these days." It is our fervent hope that in attending mass, you and your family will be able to discover the great blessing that comes from praying together. At back-to-school night, all students who are preparing for First Reconciliation, First Communion and/or Confirmation at St. Thomas More School received a Mass Attendance card for use during their preparation. Please continue to have these signed regularly. | | | You may remember the Loma Prieta earthquake, also known as the World Series Earthquake.
