Camp Kinda Background Information:
Employees with school-age kids, who are still adapting to the rigors of quarantines and distance learning, will soon face an even more daunting problem: How to fill their children's wide-open summer vacation days once the online school year ends?
Here is a project from some of the most innovative minds in online learning, who aim to help parents answer that question. It's a
virtual summer camp that will be available free to families called
Camp Kinda. While nothing can replace the joys of an outdoor summer, Camp Kinda makes the best of what is possible: mixing fun and enriching activities, all of which are designed to put minimal strain on working parents.
The idea for Camp Kinda came from
Tim Daly, who leads the well-regarded nonprofit Ed Navigator. Tim brings nearly two decades of experience in public education to this effort and an entrepreneurial orientation to address the needs of parents through partnerships with employers such as M.I.T. and Marriott Hotels.
This summer, Camp Kinda will provide approximately three to four hours of engaging free content per day to families around the country. Camp Kinda will be available online from June 1st to September 1st, 2020 for free due to philanthropic support. Families will need high-speed internet and a connected device to access the content.
