March 10, 2020 Dear STM families, I am writing to you today regarding an Archdiocese of San Francisco update on COVID-19. As you will understand from the attached letter from the Department of Catholic Schools, the Archdiocese of San Francisco has determined that proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of our school community members are necessary. As such, St. Thomas More School, and all other schools in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, will be closing all school campuses from Thursday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 25, 2020. School will resume on Thursday, March 26th. It is important that St. Thomas More School children continue to receive quality academic content during this time. We will be implementing the Archdiocese of San Francisco Distance Learning Protocol in order to maintain academic progress for students. This protocol has been distributed to all Archdiocesan Catholic elementary schools. Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11th will be a regular school day. We are asking that students bring 1-2 tote bags to school so they may bring all school books and necessary resources home with them tomorrow. After that, the school will be closed until March 26th. We appreciate your support making sure that children have the necessary materials at home to continue the learning progression. If your child is ill or not attending school tomorrow for any reason, please contact their teacher, and we will gather their books and supplies. They will be available for pick-up tomorrow from the office or from Extended Care until 6 pm tomorrow. Remember after that time, the school will be closed for the next two weeks. Visit our school website for updates and also sign up for our emergency messaging system, Remind.com, if you have not done so already. Please know that the health and safety of our children, families and staff is paramount to the Archdiocese of San Francisco. We look forward to partnering with your family in this amended protocol for the coming weeks. Please expect to hear from me weekly with updates and to continue opportunities for communication. During this time we recommend practicing social distancing with the goal of reducing the occasions where numbers of people come together and potentially are exposed to the virus that is circulating in the community. Many thanks in advance for your understanding. We pray for our community members to remain healthy and well.
